Consumers and end users under- stand the integrity that ANSI accreditation carries—quality assurance. In evaluating TABB’s application for accreditation, ANSI required that TABB conform with ISO/IEC 17024—determining that TABB’s structure and systems adequately maintain confidentiality, objectivity and impartiality in awarding (and, when necessary, withdrawing) certifications among TABB participating companies and individual practitioners. ANSI demands that all governing decisions and operating rules remain free of conflicts of interest. ANSI must be satisfied through documentation that the structures of organizations it certifies cannot be changed in a manner that might compromise existing impartiality.
